Our story began in 2019, when our (at that time future) CEO Roman was working as an independent “technology scout” for BTL, a medical technology company. While reviewing the findings he had gathered with the owner of BTL, his former law school classmate and longtime friend, the topic of “plant meat” came up. Apparently, it had been mentioned at Singularity University as an area with enormous future potential.

A peer-reviewed study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science has found that domestic cats accepted a diet containing cultivated hamster cell biomass at least as well as one based on conventional chicken breast, with the cultivated meat diet actually generating fewer leftovers despite containing significantly less palatability enhancer.

Research published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science by Ghent University and BeneMeat found that a complete diet containing cultivated meat was well accepted and showed good digestibility in domestic cats, highlighting its potential as a novel pet food ingredient.

PRAGUE — More than sixty researchers from around the world gathered in Prague from 7 to 10 May 2026 for Prague Protein Spring 2026 (PPS 2026), one of Europe’s most prominent meetings in protein science. This year’s edition, themed “Protein Science in the Post-AlphaFold Era: New Challenges – New Paradigms”, was opened by the 2024 Nobel laureate in Chemistry David Baker, who delivered the keynote lecture on computational protein design.

New Italian pet food Coolty Meat made from cultivated hamster meat

In Italy, pet food brand FORZA10 has launched a wet dog food containing cultivated meat from Czech company BeneMeat. Dubbed Coolty Meat, the food was launched at Interzoo 2026 and is the first such food available in Europe. According to FORZA10, BeneMeat’s meat, which is cultivated from hamster cells, makes up 26% of the Coolty Meat. Hamster meat was chosen because of its amino acid profile and low allergenic potential.
